The Gig House in Ridlington
Ridlington, Norfolk
Description
A “real home from home” The Gig House is a traditional, Georgian brick and flint cottage
converted from a stable and carriage store, hence the name. It has been fully
modernised to provide charming, rustic accommodation whilst keeping all original
features including: wooden beams, flint walls, pitched ceilings, exposed wood and a
fireplace made from Norfolk red bricks.
Set amongst acres of mature gardens; this pretty cottage has the sole use of a quarter-acre paddock, which is a real suntrap throughout the day. Here you can sit in complete privacy, hearing only the rustle of leaves on sixty-foot poplar trees whilst enjoying glorious Norfolk sunsets and sunrises. Perfect for all times of the year with a sheltered garden and a log burner for the cooler evenings.
The Gig House is located in a peaceful, rural setting, positioned on the edge of the small village of Ridlington and completely surrounded by farmland. Surrounding Area
The small village of Ridlington nestles peacefully into the rural Norfolk landscape between the Sea and the Broads.
There are two pubs and several long, un-crowded, sandy beaches within easy walking distance of the Gig House.
Also the blue flag beaches of Mundesley and Sea Palling are only a short drive away, as are the historic market towns of North Walsham and Stalham.
The Victorian seaside town of Cromer and the vibrant City of Norwich both prove popular day trips from this location and there are also many National Trust properties and family attractions to enjoy.
This quiet, unspoiled part of Norfolk is renowned for big skies, wide open spaces, iconic lighthouses, stunning windmills and majestic Norman churches but there are plenty of pretty towns and villages, wooded walks and country pubs to discover as well. Cyclists and walkers can easily access the 63 mile North Norfolk Coastal Path, which is only a short walk from the property, and there are bird watching, fishing, canoeing and boating opportunities in the Norfolk Broads.
Another very popular activity is seal watching all year round on Horsey Beach, particularly during December and January when the seal pups are born. This is the perfect location for a traditional bucket and spade holiday, an active break, or a chance to just relax and let the world go by.
