Well-behaved and toilet-trained dogs are welcome so long as this is agreed in advance with the owner.
The property has full gas central heating and gets very warm, so is very cosy in the winter. Bed linen and towels are provided.

Outside and garden

Small, enclosed courtyard garden to the rear which is a real sun-trap in the morning, and where a small outside table, chairs and a bench are provided. There is also a small outside area with bench to the front of the property which has sun for most of the afternoon and is a great spot to "people-watch" in the summer! Plus directly to the rear of the property is an allocated parking space which is such a bonus! This is in a private and secure car park with barrier entry.

Surrounding area

It's great to have the beach at the bottom of the hill, but the beaches a little further along towards Overstrand at low-tide are, for us, the highlight of our holiday. Within a 10 minute walk the beaches can be virtually deserted, even in summer, and are fantastic for picnics, barbecues and long lazy beach afternoons (or a bracing winter walk!). We have some lovely walks nearby, and for those that are up to it, there is a lovely clifftop walk from the house to Overstrand which takes you past the lighthouse, a children's playpark and the golf course. We strongly recommend a stop at the cafe in Overstrand before heading back along the fabulous beach! (Oh and watch out for the seals who often poke their heads out of the water along this stretch of the beach in the summer!!)

One of our Cromer highlights in the summer is waking up and wandering down to the Lifeboat Cafe at the bottom of the hill for breakfast, sitting in the sunshine and enjoying the lovely view. We also have the lovely Rocket House Cafe on the Gangway too with its lovely terrace overlooking the sea. There are lots of other good eating options nearby too, including the Red Lion round the corner and takeaway/ restaurants including Indian/ Thai/ Chinese and of course plenty of options for fish and chips or fresh crab for supper!

For everyday groceries, we have a superb farm shop around the corner which is great for fruit, veg, wine, cheese, "free-from" options and lots of other things. What can't be bought there can be usually obtained from Budgens close by and stocks most day-to-day essentials. Next door to the farm shop is a great bakery which does the best bread and cakes. We never need to do a big supermarket stock-up when we are there as everything is so close to hand. We also have a couple of larger supermarkets just outside the centre (Morrisons is a 5 minute drive away - maybe 15 minutes walk if you're up to carrying the groceries back!).

A short walk away from the cottage is the famous Pier with a lovely theatre which has some great productions suiting all age groups throughout the year. Also at the end of the pier is the lifeboat station which has free entry and which the kids love. Other entertainment favourites with the children include the Henry Blogg museum at the bottom of the hill, the Cromer Museum, the amusement arcades and the fairground rides, all of which are within walking distance. For rainy days we have a fab cinema which is a 3 minute walk away. If you have transport then there are so many options available and for children there's a good Kart Track on the edge of Cromer, Amazona Zoo, the Splash Pool in Sheringham and several options for horse-riding. If you are visiting with children in the school holidays, the local sports centre (walking distance from the cottage) runs some great activities (such as dodgeball) at minimal cost which our energetic son loves when we stay there. There is also a new scooter-park in the centre of Cromer.

For country walks or a cycle ride, there are plenty of options locally, but we also love visiting Kelling Heath, near Weybourne (approx 20 mins by car)- acres and acres of beautiful heathland. We also love Felbrigg Hall which is a beautiful National Trust property just outside Cromer surrounded by lovely countryside perfect for walkers and cyclists. North Norfolk is obviously also one of the most attractive locations in the UK for birdwatching and many visitors are drawn to our region for that reason alone..
