Seven luxurious double rooms with 11 more in May 2018
The Globe Inn is one of Norfolk's loveliest small hotels (4*), located in the popular fishing town Wells-next-the-Sea. The front bar, with its stunning view over the town's pretty Georgian square, extends across the length of the building: Outside, the historic bow windows the 'al fresco' area has been doubled; the large airy conservatory-style restaurant has been recently refurbished and the seven bedrooms and ensuite bathrooms have been completely re-decorated in a lovely original and contemporary Georgian maritime style.
Adding a dash of glamour to The Globe, the loos are now situated n the old cellars, with their vaulted brick ceilings. They have been sandblasted and subtly lit, the beer kegs are to be seen behind sheet glass and the loos themselves now include huge smoky mirrors across the walls.
We are currently re-developing the coachouse round the 19th century courtyard, which seats up to 50 guests and is already a sheltered and charming outside dining area at the hotel. Eleven new bedrooms and bathrooms are planned. A galleried walkway around the entire circumference of the new bedrooms on two floors will add to the theatrical atmosphere of a little hotel determined to live up to its namesake! These new rooms will be available in late May 2018.
There is a large enclosed courtyard, surrounded by historic coach houses with seating 'al fresco' for up to 50. Guests also sit outside the front door watching the world go by, on comfortable benches, overlooking The pretty leafy Buttlands Square.
Free parking is available around The Buttlands and throughout the town.
Wells next-The-Sea is a quirky, and incredibly attractive fishing town with boats coming and going on the tide as they have for hundreds of years. there is a wonderful sense of community with independent fourth generation shopkeepers and some famous fish and chips!
Holkham Hall and estate neighbours Wells, with its wealth of walks and lake. There is RSPB bird watching at Cley-next-the-Sea, Titchwell and other famous North Norfolk coastal birding locations. The famous 'royal' links golf courses of Brancaster, Houghton, Cromer and Sandringham are all within 30 minutes' drive. This is a wonderful part of North Norfolk and an original place to visit which has developed 'with some style' - over time..
