Surrounding area

Mole Cottage in Norfolk (photo 4) Mole Cottage in Norfolk (photo 5) The cottage offers an excellent location for exploring the North Norfolk coastline with its sandy beaches and nature reserves on the doorstep. Located in an Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this makes a good base for touring this pretty part of Norfolk.

Stiffkey has a fine public house serving good food and also a very 'quaint' general stores/coffee shop which is not only well stocked but serves great coffee and pastries in a beautifully calming atmosphere.

Stiffkey marshes offers the most fantastic play area to children whilst avoiding the parking nightmare of Wells. Dam building - try and stop the tide - I always failed, crab catching contests and swimming in the creeks as the tide comes in. Some crab catching tackle and childrens spades supplied. No queueing or crowds. Not to be missed but do check the tides for both timings and importantly the height.

The popular seaside resort of Wells-next-the-Sea, Holkham Hall and the beach are close by. Sailing, sea fishing and golf courses are all available locally. Nearby are Blakeney and Morston harbours where boat trips to visit the basking seals and bird reserves on Blakeney Point can be found(great fun but make sure you are suitably 'clad' for the weather) . For ornithologists Cley Marshes(Norfolk Wildlife Trust) is an internationally revered bird sanctuary.

For those who enjoy wandering round shops with a break for coffee or a long lunch/supper the historic market town of Holt is a beautiful place to spend some time. It also offers a supermarket, butchers, fish mongers and excellet Delicatessens from which to stock up on.

Traditional seaside resorts of Hunstanton, Cromer, Sheringham offer excellent sandy beaches and attractions for all ages, and the Royal Sandringham Estate and Museum are within a 20 mile radius. It is an hours drive to the famous Norfolk Broads where daily boat hire and river trips are avaliable to explore the expanse of waterways and the fine city of Norwich for excellent shopping is also close.
