Enter from the front into the porch (with plenty of room for coats, muddy wellies, and buckets & spades), which leads directly into an attractive and airy living/dining room. At the near end of this oak-beamed room is the dining table which seats 8, while at the other end is a wood-burning stove, comfy chairs, a television and DVD player. A dresser contains plenty of board games and books for that cosy night in.

The living/dining room leads through into a small hall leading into the up-to-date, well-equipped kitchen with an electric oven, halogen hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, and two dishwasher drawers.

Also on the ground floor is a WC/shower room; a door leads to the staircase and an inner hall where you’ll find an ironing board, iron and vacuum cleaner.

Up a short flight of stairs to the first floor, where there are two charming bedrooms. The first - a twin room - has delightful views, fitted cupboards and its own washbasin. The second bedroom has a pair of bunk beds and is ideal for children. Also on the first floor is a separate loo and washbasin.

Up another short flight of stairs is the loft conversion, which has a sizeable double bedroom and ensuite bathroom complete with a shower over the bath, WC and basin. Although no wardrobe, there is space for clothing in the chest at the end of the bed or on the hooks at the bottom of the stairs.

Outside and garden

Bean Cottage is semi-detached and is located on a quiet road in the heart of the village. The garden is gated and has a barbecue, patio with outdoor table and chairs and off-street parking for two cars.

Surrounding area

Bean Cottage in Norfolk (photo 6) The north Norfolk coast is a popular holiday destination for good reason. We're talking 45 miles of stunning coastline, teeming with wildlife; expansive beaches; gastropubs, galleries and a windmill.

Call us biased, but Cley-next-the-Sea is something of a highlight. You're spoilt for choice with things to do in this picturesque village - and everything is a mere stroll from Bean Cottage. There's the stunning 14th-century St Margaret’s Church, Cley Windmill (which serves a candlelit dinner to non-residents), and the recently-renovated harbour.

Browse the village's charming selection of independent shops and galleries including Crabpot Books; Pinkfoot Gallery, which showcases contemporary local artists; and Made in Cley, with its pretty collection of stoneware pottery.

Foodies will be happy, too, with the award-winning Picnic Fayre deli; Cley Smokehouse (you have to try their smoked kippers); cafés (there’s Artemis and The Harnser), and two pubs (The George and The Three Swallows) on your doorstep. There's even a weekly Supper Club at Old Town Hall House.

Just outside the village is Norfolk Wildlife Trust’s oldest and best-known nature reserve, with its new eco-friendly visitor centre containing a café, shop, viewing areas and the fantastic Simon Aspinall Wildlife Education Centre. Not surprisingly, the stunning wildlife reserve is a magnet for bird watchers.

The shingle Cley Beach is a picturesque mile walk along the coastal path through the nature reserve from the village.
