Surrounding area

The Lodge in Norfolk (photo 7) Baconsthorpe is 4 miles from Holt and the location of Baconsthorpe Castle, a ruined fortified manor house dating from the 15th Century, and an English Heritage site. The Lodge is situated on a public footpath and there is an extensive network of local walks to enjoy on your doorstep.

The Georgian market town of Holt offers numerous shops selling antiques, art, luxury goods and food, together with an excellent range of cafes and restaurants.

The outstanding north Norfolk coast is within easy reach, with spectacular beaches, bird watching on the marshes, beautiful seaside towns and villages - and, of course - wonderful seafood such as Cromer crab ! Weybourne (6 miles), Blakeney & Cromer (9 miles).

Two of the finest National Trust houses are both 8 miles away, Blickling Hall with its spectacular Jacobean house, gardens and estate and the superb 17th century Felbrigg Hall. The Norfolk Broads and the historic city of Norwich are also easily accessible to add even more variety to your holiday..
