Actually the larger of the two Walsinghams, Little Walsingham is famous for the Shrine of Our Lady, the story of which begins as far back as 1061. Little Walsingham is known by many as ‘Englands Nazareth’, and thousands of people come on pilgrimage here every year.
The village has over 50 churches, as well as several pubs, gift shops, cafes, galleries and shops, and there are plenty of places to stay.
Little Walsingham is only a short drive from the town of Fakenham, which has plenty of facilities including large supermarkets. A short distance in the other direction will take you to Wells beach, considered by many to be the finest beach in Norfolk.
