The village is rich in architectural, historic and religious treasures. At its height in medieval times, Walsingham rivalled Canterbury and the great shrines of Europe. Most kings and queens of England made pilgrimages here, from Henry III to Henry VIII.
The two shrines are worth a visit, as are Walsingham Abbey gardens with the ruins of the Augustinian priory that formed the heart of the medieval village.
Just five miles away are the glorious beaches and big skies of North Norfolk – learn to sail or windsurf, see the seals, watch the birds at Cley or RSPB Titchwell, or simply walk for miles.
There is a good riding school in the village and we are on a national cycle route. Golf and tennis are on hand in Fakenham four miles to the south, and a narrow gauge railway just up the road winds through the Norfolk countryside to Wells-next-the-Sea.
Visit the National Trust's Blickling and Felbrigg Halls and Sheringham Park, or the fine country estates of Holkham, Houghton and Sandringham.
We are ideally placed for the Thursford Show in November and December.
