To celebrate the New Millennium the Parish felt it appropriate to re-print this fond and well-researched history of the village by Geoff Amos. He was an enthralling teller of tales, but he also liked to listen to background stories of people, places and events which is why this booklet is not just a history of names and dates, but an unfolding saga of life in South Walsham. We have tried to merge the 1981 original book carefully with the 1989 supplement to avoid too much interruption of your reading. The son and daughters of Mr. Amos have happily agreed that this should be done in memory of their father.
