As well as traditional features, it has all mod cons:, back up electric heating, wi fi, flat screen TV with free view and DVD, new floor, and a luxury four foot six double bed with sprung mattress, with good quality pillows, duvets and linen. There is a book case with a range of interesting books to look at during your stay.

Outside Features

The Retreat is fully detached.

It is set in its own half acre of garden, with large parking, and turning area.

The garden includes woodland, replete with snowdrops, daffodils and bluebells in spring, to old apple trees, full of blossom in spring, and fruit in autumn. It has its very own gravel garden.

The Retreat has a south and west facing aspect, and its own patio area, with table and chairs. It is a veritable sun trap, where it is possible to eat outside not only in the summer, but all year, as it catches the warmth from the spring and autumn sun. East Anglia is the driest part of the country, so there are many opportunities to be outside even in the cooler months.

Location

It is a wildlife haven, with many small birds to be seen all year round. A colony of long tailed tits is always around the garden to admire at close range. To the east of The Retreat is open farm land, in which deer and buzzards are occasionally seen. It is the regular hunting ground of barn owls, which sometimes fly directly over the garden.

The situation is unique, giving both rural isolation in the beautiful Bure Valley area of North Norfolk. It is close to Itteringham, two miles from Blickling, five minutes from Aylsham, , and fifteen minutes from Holt and Reepham. It is within easy reach of the coast, and only a thirty minutes drive to the beautiful historic cathedral town of Norwich.

The picturesque village of Blickling is largely all part of one estate, that of Blickling Hall.
Blickling Hall itself is a magnificent Jacobean stately home, maintained by the National Trust. Blickling Hall is open year round for tours of the house and gardens and you can walk in the extensive grounds and round the lake. The village itself if very small, the village pub The Buckinghamshire Arms serves excellent food, and there is a farm shop next to the pub.
The ancient woodland here is a wonderful place for a walk, especially in May, when the Bluebells are in season. Blickling Hall stages concerts in the summer so you can bring a picnic and enjoy music in the park.
