PLUMTREE COTTAGE
Plumtree Cottage is a pretty Georgian cottage, a very short walk to the river and beach and opposite The Hero pub. It was once two cottages and the second gate is just visible in the front hedge, as a result it is more spacious than it appears from the outside. There is a small-enclosed front garden which hides the cottage from the road.
ACCOMMODATION
The front door leads into a spacious hall with a wooden floor, to the right is a sitting room with open fire, sofa and comfy chairs and TV/DVD, a radio-CD player with a small selection of CDs.
Through the hall one enters the dining room with amtico floor, pine table and habitat chairs. The kitchen is off the diningroom. It is a good size and has lots of cupboards. There is an oil-fired Rayburn, microwave, dishwasher and fridge. It is well equipped with crockery and glasses. The Rayburn heats the hot water which is plentiful and very hot.
There is a utility area beyond the dining room with a washer/dryer, a fridge/freezer and the boiler which heats the radiators. A large pantry leads off this area and also the second bathroom.
UPSTAIRS
Upstairs there are 3 double bedrooms, one has a superking bed, another is a superking or twin and the third is a twin only. There are radiators and cupboards in all the rooms. There is a family bathroom with an airing cupboard and an additional separate loo and washbasin.
OUTSIDE
The back door leads to the small but pretty back garden. This is completely enclosed. There is a covered area, with a BBQ and garden furniture where wood is stored for the sitting room fire.
OTHER INFORMATION
Bedlinen is provided but not towels. There is a phone which can receive incoming calls. Internet connection is negoitable.
All electricity, oil and wood are included in the price of the cottage
Smoking is not allowed in the cottage.
PETS
Pets can accompany there owners but should not go upstairs. We have found it necessary to make a small charge for dogs as the wear and tear to the house and garden is often considerable.
ABOUT THE AREA
Plumtree Cottage is perfectly positioned for a fun and relaxed holiday on the North Norfolk Coast. There is lots to do – beaching, sailing, walking, birdwatching, numerous stately homes to visit (Holkham is only a few minutes away), art galleries, good shopping (Burnham Market and Holt) and beautiful countryside and coast to explore with idyllic empty beaches.
BURNHAM OVERY STAITHE is a very pretty village well known for its sailing and birdwatching. It is on the edge of the marsh which flowers with sea lavender in the summer and is home to thousands of geese in the winter. The walk along the Bank leads to the sea with its long white beaches or a trip on the ferry takes one out to Scolt Head Island. For the initiated the route back can be by the cockle path and a couple of wades through the river at low tide.
There is a chandlery on the hard which sells sailing gear, cards, clothes and often mussels.
On the way back it is good to stop at the Hero for a drink and maybe a pint of local prawns. The pub is attractive inside and does good simple food, in the summer it is also open for breakfast and tea.
BURNHAM MARKET is close by. It offers brilliant retail therapy and excellent eating at the Hoste Arms and Fishes. The area abounds with good eating places from the Victoria at Holkham to the White Horse at Brancaster
HOLKHAM HALL is just minutes away and is a wonderful place to visit. You can drive, walk or cycle through the park and see the deer .The view from the far end of the drive gives a spectacular vista of the house and park.
BURNHAM THORPE is Nelson's birthplace and the Lord Nelson pub is defiantly worth a visit. It has good beer and much Nelson memorabilia and the church should not be missed either.
