Cley next the Sea could claim to be the most beautiful village in north Norfolk. There is a beach, which can be accessed on foot by following the path that starts from Cley Windmill.

Local attractions include super coastal walks, excellent bird watching, flint homes that time forgot, pubs with character and great food. The famous Cley Smokehouse is nearby, preparing every type of fish imaginable and the best crab soup ever! using traditional methods. The village boasts an excellent delicatessen, an art shop and the wonderful “Made in Cley” pottery. There are also two excellent pubs within walking distance.

Cley–next–the-Sea is an unspoilt Norfolk village and at one time was the centre of a thriving port community but over a number of decades the entrance to the village from the sea became silted up and the marshes increased in size making it a natural sanctuary for the numerous birds which visit it throughout the year. The sea is now held back beyond the marshes.
The National Trust administer this area which is designated one of outstanding natural beauty and attracts ornithologists from all over the country. The charm of the area is its complete unspoilt character where life is leisurely and is suited to people who require a peaceful holiday away from the crowds.
The village has 'a number of small shops and there is a limited public transport service to the larger towns of Holt, Cromer and Sheringham — the latter having two good golf courses.
The village has a beautiful village green, next to the magnificent church.
