Location

An idyllic location close to the River Bure which meanders prettily among the meadows of North Norfolk, passing quietly through the National Trust’s Blickling Hall estate, skirting the attractive market town of Aylsham, through Oxnead water mill, then a big lazy loop by Lammas church before feeding Buxton Mill and then on down to the Norfolk Broads.

Buxton is the main village with a general store, post office and 2 pubs but there is a wider range of shops in the market town of Aylsham 3 miles.

The capital of the Norfolk Broads one of 14 National Parks in the UK is only 5 miles away at Wroxham, and you may like to hire a boat to view the miles of waterways. The North Norfolk Heritage Coast and the sandy beaches of Cromer, Mundesley, Sea Palling and Horsey are a short drive away. The fine historical city of Norwich is 9 miles away with its many historical sites including Norwich Castle and Cathedral and a great selection of national and local shops for a bit of retail therapy.

Aylsham is a wonderful example of Norfolk’s bustling market towns. The traditional market square has been largely unchanged since the 18th century, and the town has plenty of shops, pubs, restaurants and hotels to explore as well as a magnificent church, famed for the quality of its ten bell ring.
There are a number of attractions nearby to Aylsham, including the fantastic Jacobean house and gardens of Blickling hall. Aylsham is also one terminus of the Bure Valley Railway, a narrow gauge steam railway which runs along the 9 mile former railway line to Wroxham
