More Details

The barn is a traditional Norfolk flint, brick and pantile building that was once the village smithy. Converted a few years ago, accommodation comprises one ground floor double bedroom plus a single bed loft room if required, with large open-plan beamed living room, wood stove and dining area.

Modern kitchen, bathroom with bath/shower, and central heating; WiFi broadband internet; TV, CD&DVD and PC provided. All the main living areas including the double bedroom are on the ground floor for easy access for the less mobile.

Weekly lets only, no week-end short breaks. Please email us for further information and availability.

Farriers Barn is a delightfully quiet and pretty property, so much so that some people come back each year! It is ideal for a couple plus a child, and a well-behaved dog is welcome or even two small ones...
The owner reserves an annex for his use on occasional weekends.

Outside Features

There is ample private parking and a fully enclosed garden with fenced wildlife pond and lawned area facing west plus a summer house and deck for sunset views.

Set well back from the road through the village down a track that leads to the common and the River Stiffkey, the property is extremely quiet, yet has neighbours on one side so is not remote or insecure.

Location

Stiffkey and Morston marshes, Wells beach, Blakeney quay all within a few miles. Boat trips to see the seals can be booked at every high tide; and the bird reserve at Cley is easily accessible. Good shops can be found in Holt and Wells plus village shops in Binham, Blakeney and Stiffkey. A fine selection of country pubs are dotted around many of the villages in the area, most of which serve good food. Holkham Hall is only a few miles away.

Stiffkey beach is tucked away behind the picturesque village of Stiffkey itself.
The beach is reached by a slightly dilapidated road which leads down to a small car park, and for the more intrepid explorers a very bumpy track which can take you further around the coast.
The Stiffkey camp site is also found down this road, and with its amazing proximity to the marshes here is usually booked up well in advance for the summer season. After parking you are greeted by a beautiful area of marshland, with a network of tiny winding paths and meandering creeks with bridges to cross, be warned though, some of these are very wobbly!
For those that manage to navigate the marshes there can be found some wonderfully secluded lagoons with sandy banks, and eventually an area of sand leading down to the sea, where if you are lucky you may be able to spot a seal or two in the water.

The village of Stiffkey has a small shop and The Red Lion pub serves excellent food. For more facilities the seaside town of Wells is not too far away, or venturing inland you can easily reach the bustling market town of Holt.
