There are good walks from the house including part of the Sculthorpe Moor nature reserve and The Hawk and Owl Trust. The village of Hempton is on the outskirts of Fakenham and has a very extensive and popular garden centre with coffee shop serving good food. The local pub serves drinks but not food. Fakenham itself has a number of pubs and restaurants as well as local shops and supermarkets. The Fakenham Racecourse is also situated in Hempton and is home to regular National Hunt meetings throughout the year. Pensthorpe Waterfowl Park and The Thursford Collection are just outside of Fakenham too and are certainly worth a visit at any time of the year.
